Programmes of study with special requirements
Here you will find an overview of which educations have special requirements, and what these requirements are.
PhD programmes
PhD programmes at HVL shall meet the requirements for quality of courses and programmes of study on the same level as programmes of study at the bachelor’s and master’s levels. HVL has its own quality assurance system for PhD programmes in order to meet the special requirements for accreditation and follow-up of PhD programmes. This includes a discussion on the structure, appointments, admissions, guidance, evaluations, mid-term evaluations, reporting, dissertations, and the approval of doctoral dissertations.
Continuing education
All continuing education programmes involving credits at HVL shall meet the requirements of the framework for quality assurance of the courses and programmes of study. When establishing continuing education programmes, it is necessary to be able to respond quickly to the needs of society, and these educational programmes are often shorter. Therefore, process descriptions from the quality assurance manual, templates and tools must be adapted to these educational programmes.
Bachelor of Nautical Science
The Bachelor of Nautical Science shall meet the requirements of the framework for quality assurance of courses and programmes of study. HVL also has a separate authorisation from the Norwegian Maritime Authority, which is renewed every five years. This authorisation entails that the educational programme is obligated to comply with STCW 78 and its revisions and FOR 2011-12-22 no. 1523 Regulations regarding qualifications and the issue of certificates for maritime personnel in its educational instruction and authorisation of personnel. Each course also has its own authorisation.
The quality assurance manual therefore includes process descriptions and templates to ensure that the Bachelor’s of Nautical Science meets the necessary requirements.
Vocational training for professional divers
Vocational training for professional divers is provided at a vocational level but must still meet HVL requirements for course and programmes of study. Since the candidates receive diving certificates and authorisations, the quality assurance manual includes process descriptions and templates to ensure that vocational training for divers meets the necessary requirements.
