Field of work
I am a professor of midwifery at the section for master's in midwifery and public health nursing, at the Department of Health and Care Sciences.
I trained as a nurse at the Stavanger Red Cross School of Nursing in 1982. Studied midwifery in Bergen in 1989. Has clinical practice as a midwife at the Women's Clinic in Bergen, and was later a professional development midwife in practice. I have been a permanent employee at the midwifery programme since 2005. In 2014, I completed my PhD at Karolinska Institutet, Department of Women's and Children's Health, with the project 'Factors associated with having the first baby at an advanced age'.
I teach and supervise the master's program in midwifery. And I have been responsible for the master's course from 2017-2024. Currently, I am responsible for the course Theory of Science, Research Ethics and Methodology. I am a supervisor for master's and PhD candidates in various topics with different methodological approaches in midwifery and reproductive health.
