Professor (parttime) at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences with the Bachelor of Physiotherapy, focusing on sustainable professional practices for health and social disciplines developing methods to become more future proof in times of transition. Main position as research professor at HAN University of Applied Sciences in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, leading a program on social sustainable practices.

Expertise in sustainability transitions, social inequality, capabilities approach, practice theory and practice change.

Research areas

My research focuses on how well-being is established from the perspective of human capabilities and, in particular, how social and wellbeing professionals can secure or enhance these capabilities. In the research team at HAN UAS Social Sustainable Practices, Erik and his research team work on issues where social well-being, justice and sustainability intersect. In doing so, he uses qualitative, quantitative and action research methods. Focus at HVL is on the consequences of the insights for vocational training of health and welfare professionals.
