Field of work
Research on green transitions and decarbonization by electrification in the maritime shipping industry.
Masters in Innovation and Management
Phd-project
The project is situated within the research field of sustainable transition studies and looks at the current processes of decarbonization in the Norwegian maritime shipping industry. The adoption and diffusion of three distinct but related green technological innovations is studied (Shore side electricity, and battery- and wind propulsion).
Rapid global climate change means there is a need to accelerate the transition from carbon-based solutions to more sustainable ones. The question of how governments may effectively and responsibly accelerate green transitions is therefore a salient question.
The overarching research-question of the project is:
How can the reorientation-process of regime incumbents for decarbonization of maritime shipping be accelerated, and how can governments help accelerate this process?
Barriers and drivers for green transitions, and the process of regime-incumbent’s reorientation towards green technological innovations is studied in the context of maritime shipping, and the role of private and public actors is explored.
