Assistant Professor

Stig Frode Samnøy

Field of work

Civil Engineer (Civil and Environmental Engineering, NTNU) with expertise in both geomatics and structural engineering.

Experienced in the offshore industry, specializing in vessel and oil rig positioning. Additionally, I have worked in the healthcare sector, researching cardiac mechanics and blood flow using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Strong interest in complex problems that require advanced numerical and visual analysis tools.

Some areas of expertise:

Geomatics:

  • Geodesy (global and marine)
  • GIS (systems and analysis)
  • Photogrammetry
  • Statistical analysis
  • Surveying

Structural Engineering:

  • Structural mechanics
  • Fluid mechanics
  • Material mechanics
  • Dimensioning (wood, steel, and concrete)
  • Design and safety of structures
  • Structural dynamics
