University of the West of Timisoara

West University of Timisoara (WUT) is located in the western part of Romania. The university has more than 16,000 students and comprehensive study programmes that cover economics and management, natural sciences, art, and social sciences. As many as 20 study programmes are offered in either English, French or German, and around 30% of the research projects have an international dimension. The university has become popular among international students, and the focus is on preparing students for an increasingly globalised labour market.

The campus lies in the heart of Timisoara, which is known as a cosmopolitan city. It is said that the city has the fastest internet connection in Europe. Timisoara is especially known for being the first city in Romania to be declared liberated from Communism. It was here that the anti-Communism revolution in the country started. The city’s history has influenced its museums and city centre, and a stroll through its many markets is highly recommended.
