Web of science is a collection of databases, which cover many disciplines. Traditionally, their main focus has been on science, but the coverage of social sciences, arts and humanities is improving. The bases contain information about articles, journals and citations, and provide the opportunity to connect information and search citing and cited articles.

Web of Science can also be used to analyze citations, and calculate bibliometric indicators such as h-index for authors, and journal impact factor.
