Keynote speakers

Marilyn Fleer

Marilyn Fleer holds the Foundation Chair of Early Childhood Education and Develoment at Monash University, Australia, where she has been the research leader since 2001 for Child and Community Development. She was a former President of the International Society of Cultural-historical Activity Research (ISCAR). Currently she holds the positions of an honorary Research Fellow in the Department of Education, University of Oxford, and a second professor position in the KINDKNOW Centre, Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. Associate Professor Liang Li

Dr Liang Li Ph.D (2012), ME(EC), ME(TESOL International), Grad. Dip. ECE, B. Law, is a senior lecturer in the Faculty of Education at Monash University, Australia. Her research interests focuson play and pedagogy, playworlds, infant-toddlers learning and development, family study childhood teacher education, and visual methodology. Professor Lasse Lipponen

I am a professor of education, with special reference to early childhood education, at the Faculty of Educational Sciences, University of Helsinki. My research work is directed to cultures of compassion;children's agency; inclusive practices; and play. My development and research work has been funded by European Union, Singapore Ministry of Education, Academy of Findland, The Finnish Agency for Innovation, and Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. I have authored over 100 research articles (H-index 35, Google Scolar) on teaching and learning and given a number of internation keynote presentations. I have received several awards, such at the first price in the educational technology competition of the University of Helsinki 1999 for the "Future Learning Enviroment", and 2008 I was the recipient of the Helsinki University "Good Teacher" award. I have served six years as a head of the kindergarten teacher and early childhood education degree program, Department of Teacher Education University of Helsinki. I am a co-founder and partner in Helsinki International Schools Group (http://www.heischools.com/#intro).

Professor Elin Eriksen Ødegaard

Professor Elin Eriksen Ødegaard is head of KINDKNOW - Kindergarten Knowledge Centre of Systemic Research on Diversity and Sustainable Futures at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences, and visiting professor at University of Tromsø - The Artic University of Norway. She had lead several research projects and networks and has collaborates with staff in kindergartens, municipalities, countries and the Norwegian Ministry of Education. She has published extensively on children's cultural formation through studying children as meaning-makers, children with an urge to explore, play and learn. many of her studies in conducted within a framework of narrative methodologies and case studies. Her research interest embraces cultural historical ideas, global and local perspectives and teachers' practices. Her present work emphasizes research aiming at new knowledge for education for sustainable futures. 

Associate Professor Liv Torunn Grindheim

Liv Torunn Grindheim is Associated Professor in Early Childhood Education. She is the leader of the work package Conditioning children as explorers at the KINDKNOW center, which is hosted from Western Norway of Applied Sciences. Her main research interests are children's exploration, sustainable education in early childhood education, and children as citizens.
