Glacier

The group does research on glaciers, snow, avalanches, permafrost and glacial landscapes. The research is often coupled to the societal consequences of present or past climate changes.

The expertise of the group covers both field measurements and modelling. The group uses glaciological, geophysical, meteorological, hydrological and biogeochemical methods and models in its work.

Fieldwork is conducted regularly in Norway, Svalbard and Greenland. The members of the group also have experience from fieldwork in Antarctica, the Andes, Himalaya and Iceland.

The models used by the group provide insights into climatological, hydrological or biogeochemical issues.

The group has a strong international profile and collaborates with many research institutions worldwide.
