Repeat participated in the 16th NESS – Nordic Environmental Social Science Conference 2024

From June 4th to 6th, the NESS conference took place in Turku, Finland. The conference brought together more than 300 researchers to exchange knowledge and experiences on the theme “Co-producing knowledge for sustainability”.

A recurring theme of the conference was barriers and opportunities for co-production of knowledge at the intersection of science, policy and society at large. There were various contributions, from co-production of knowledge in nature management to public participation and contribution in the green energy transition.

PhD candidate Ingrid Knutsdotter Koren presented her work at the NESS conference in Finland from June 4th to 6th. The conference consisted of over 20 workshops covering various topics, and participants submitted manuscript drafts in advance for feedback from workshop participants. The workshop format provided a unique opportunity for knowledge and experience exchange, and facilitated discussions on various topics related to co-production. In addition to the workshops, there were exciting and diverse keynote speakers and engaging panel discussions.

Sustainability transformations requires diverse and complementary approaches to understand and affect the ways in which people live in and manage nature and its valuable resources and attributes. Co-production of knowledge and participation are important tools to foster dialogue and collaboration across academic fields, as well as engagement with and inclusion of different stakeholders.
