Course description for academic year 2017/2018
Contents and structure

In this course, students will continue to work on developing their own skills as performers, as facilitators for others playing their own principal instrument and in connection with band rotations. Music technology, vocal practice, ensemble play and aural skills are important building-blocks in the development of students' music-making, and are therefore the main focus of this concluding course.
The following topics are important in the course:
- Technology for performance and training arenas
- Instrument training with room for specialisation and depth
- Music reading and aural skills
- Ensemble play / band rotation
Learning Outcome

Knowledge
The candidate has:
- Insight into repertoires for their instrument, relevant to music activities in schools and the community
- Knowledge about practice methods in order to best plan, implement and evaluate their own practice.
- Knowledge of methods and instruments suitable for ensemble play
- Knowledge about digital learning resources
Skills:
The candidate:
- Is able to perform a varied repertoire of song and music, musically and expressively, alone and in ensemble play
- Is able to use their principal and secondary instruments in a constructive and relevant manner in communication both independently and in ensemble play
- Can use voice in an independent manner in choirs and ensemble play situations
- Can work on and reflect on technical and artistic issues for their principal instrument, and based on this create an independent expression
- Shows the ability to listen, take initiative and adapt to fellow musicians
- Can further develop their aural skills and use music technology tools, and tie these to practical work on their principal instrument and in ensemble play
General competence:
The candidate:
- Can use varied work methods in connection with play
- Is able to take initiative in different contexts where practice and the communication of music are in focus
- Can reflect on the use of music technology in connection with practice and training
