Contents and structure
This course is divided into two themes,
- Wounds caused by venous, arterial and lymphatic circulation
- Wounds caused by pressure, neuropathy, and immunological/ inflammatory diseases
The course is focused on systemic diseases that causes wounds. It covers diseases in venous, arterial and lymphatic circulation. In addition, diseases that causes neuropathy (mainly diabetes) is also given attention. Diseases that reduces mobility, and thereby increase the risk of decubitus is discussed, together with prevention and treatment of decubitus. Rear diseases that may cause wounds like skin cancer, metastasis to the skin and immunological/ inflammatory diseases is covered in this theme.

Have a comprehensive knowledge about rare wounds
- Pyoderma gangrenosum
- Vasculitis
- Necrobiosis lipoidica
- Cancer related wounds (fungating wounds)
- Identify wounds caused by circulatoric disease
- Is able to perform simple, objective judgement of arterial circulation
- Is able to make a good compression bandage
- Is able to offload pressure points to avoid neuropathic wounds and decubitus
- Identify complications to diabetes and see to adequate diagnostics and treatment
- Know the symptoms of rare wounds and be able to refer to relevant diagnostics and treatment
- Imparts independent work and masters the expressions from the subject area
- Can perform an assessment, judgement and analysis of a concrete problem related to wound treatment

Teaching methods
Lectures, literature studies, counselling, teamwork with written assignment.
This is a chiefly web-based part-time education with two themes, each commencing with an assembly of four days.

Participate in discussion groups at Canvas with at least 6 contributions
75 % obligatory turnout for instruction
Assessment
