Course description for academic year 2018/2019
Contents and structure
The public and private sectors, mixed forms, and framework conditions. Public organizations and perspectives on the way they work. Levels of management and channels of influence. Reforms. Reshaping the welfare state.The Norwegian model of cooperation and the background for its development. Representation, negotiation systems, and the balance of power. Local and international aspects. Development characteristics in the European working life.
Learning Outcome
Knowledge:
The student:
- Has knowledge about the similarities and differences between various sectors, the role of public organizations in society, management systems, and ways of working.
- Has insight into the cooperation between parties in Norwegian labor relations, arrangements for representation, negotiation systems and the balance of power, as well as the background for the development of these traits.
- Has knowledge about how characteristics of European working life such as the EEA Agreement and the EU affect Norwegian working life.
Entry requirements
ØKB1112 Organizational Theory and ØKB1113 Organizational Psychology and Management. Relevant experience may be considered.
