NAB3014 STCW Advanced Safety Training

Contents and structure

Advanced safety training for ship officers in international shipping. This course contains survival crafts and rescue boats, advanced fire fighting and medical first aid.This course does not give any credits, but it is offered to students who will complete their bechelor in maritime studies and later achieve certification as deck officers.

Practical information:

The course is delivered by a external service provider. There is a limited validity of five years for the course.

This course is only offered once to each student. If you, without a valid reason, fail to finish the course you are registred for, the School will not be responsible for giving you a new course.

Learning Outcome

- Knowledge:

The students should have thorough knowledge of emergency management onboard vessels and in different types of emergency situations.

- Skills:

The students should be able to be in command onboard a lifeboat/rescue boat and be in charge of evacuation to a lifeboat. They should be able to be a part of and to lead fire squads, and to provide first aid for personnel in medical emergencies.

 

- General Qualifications:

This course meets the requirements in STCW tables A-VI/2-1, A-VI/3 and A-VI/4-1.

Entry requirements

NAB1020 Basic Safety Training for Seamen or equivalent. To be offered a place at the course, the students must have produced at least 75 sp in the study program.

Compulsory learning activities

100% attendance and participation throughout the course.

Assessment

Written exam, 1 hr. Executed by external course provider.
