DRA304 Theatre history and theatre production
Course description for academic year 2020/2021
Contents and structure
This is the second module in the spring semester. Focus is on theatre history and theatre production. The module introduces theatre history with a special focus on classical theatre, dramaturgy and traditions. Actor training, script work, production and directing will be central.
The module is open for exchange students. 5 credits in Process drama will be offered to fullfill a three months exchange study.

Teaching methods
Scenic production through individual, group and full class work, accessing theatre, workshops, lectures and tutorials.
Compulsory learning activities
- Attendance in teaching.
- An oral presentation (ca. 60 min) and a written analysis (min. 1500 words) connected to a part of theatre history. Specific guidelines will be introduced to the students at the start of the course.
Assessment
Practical-methodical group exam. Based on classical theatre, the students in ensembles produce a performance (ca. 7 students per ensemble, duration ca. 25 min per performance). The exam is the presentation of this performance.
The group will get a collective mark where the production as a whole is assessed. In special cases, the grade may be adjusted for individual members of the group.

Mark scale: A-F.
New/postponed practical exam will be performed individually.

The students are free to use costumes, props, light and sound.
