ING3043 Performance Based Fire Safety Design
Course description for academic year 2020/2021
Contents and structure
Introduction to fire safety engineering using a performance based design approach verifying compliance with the functional requirements relating to safety in case of fire given by Technical Regulation to the Planning and Building Act. The course focuses on fire safety strategy, fire risk analysis and the use of fire safety engineering principles, calculations and/or appropriate software modelling tools to verify compliance with the national regulations for fire safety design in buildings. Students will be setting and assessing fire safety objectives, understanding acceptance criteria, engineering and computer simulation calculations, evaluation time, egress models, evacuation analysis, fire scenario analysis etc.
