SYKH300 Nursing under Comorbid States of Disease and Patient Health Conditions
Course description for academic year 2022/2023
Contents and structure
This module covers nursing for patients with multiple and complex needs and conditions in municipal health services, professional leadership, service development and innovation in the health service. This module forms a theoretical basis for knowledge and understanding of health challenges and courses of treatment, with a special focus on the health-promoting, preventive, restorative, rehabilitative and palliative functions of nursing.
This module also covers the following topics:
- When disability affects life and health
- Patient treatment courses (courses of treatment)
- Methods for service user participation
- Technology and health
- Intoxication and addiction
- Neglect, violence and abuse
- Socioeconomic issues
- Relevant legislation and public documents
- Interdisciplinary, interprofessional and cross-sectoral collaboration

Compulsory learning activities
The following compulsory learning activities must be completed before students can sit the final examination:
1: Participation in study groups with peer feedback and supervision. Topic: Technology, health and service user participation.
2: Participation in study groups with peer feedback and supervision. Topic: Violence, intoxication and addiction.
3: Participation in study groups with peer feedback and supervision. Topic: Functions and responsibilities of nurses.
Assessment
Individual written take-home exam, 3 hours. Length 3000 words +/- 10%.

Assessment grading
Graded using a scale from A to F, where A to E are passing grades and F is a fail.
