Course description for academic year 2023/2024

Contents and structure

The course should provide students with a continuation within the field of administration and management with a focus on human resources. An important goal is to develop students' ability to evaluate leadership and its significance in different contexts and situations, and the importance of a learning approach to the leadership role.

Learning Outcome

Upon completion of the course in Learning Leadership, Organization, and Culture, the student should be able to:

Knowledge

  • Describe different approaches to the phenomenon of leadership.
  • Explain and understand the practice of leadership in learning organizations.

Skills

  • Analyze different conditions for learning leadership.
  • Apply the knowledge to relevant cases from work/organizational life.

General competence

  • Identify leadership challenges for learning in various organizations.
  • Ability of critical reflection in ways of practicing leadership.

None

Recommended previous knowledge

BØA112 and ØAO018 or similar courses.

Teaching methods

The teaching methods will vary between lectures, group work, and practical exercises.

Compulsory learning activities

1 group-based assignment.

The assignment must be approved before the student can take the exam.

An approved assignment is valid in the semester of the exam and the following 3 semesters.

Group-based term paper.
