Contents and structure

In this course the students work towards developing own art practices and expressing themselves artistically and publicly. This happens through experiments, rehearsals, and performance of own art practices in a chosen medium and with a self-designed ensemble, and through participating and contributing to other student’s ensembles and school choir, and by getting introduces to artistic research. The students will develop their versatility and understanding of the music field through learning recording theory and procedures in a music studio, using music recording equipment creatively, arranging and producing own concerts, developing as a singer, developing aural skills and sight reading skills, and through developing ability to use agreed music theory terminology,

Students must have smart phone or equipment for video and photo captivation at their disposal for documentation purposes.

Institutional rules regulate whether extra transport costs regarding public concerts are at the student’s expense or are covered by institution.

• Can use recording technology and digital tools to enhance art activities and expression
• Can use the voice in diverse ways in choir activities
• Can recognize, sight read and transcribe music with some rhythmic and melodic complexity and use agreed music terminology and traditional notation for this

Entry requirements

None

Teaching methods

Lectures, workshops with practical project work - both individual and in groups, self-guided use of online resources, supervised group and solo rehearsals, literature studies, discussions, some online activities.

Compulsory learning activities

• Active participation is expected and compulsory attendance is a requirement for parts of this course, which parts this is will be presented in the plan for each semester.
• Assignments mentioned in the semester plan (made available at semester start).

Assessment

Practical examination.

Grading scale: A - F.
