Contents and structure

Essay for the program Advisor in digital economy and management must contribute to a knowledge-based summary of the year's unit.

The candidate chooses a topic from one of the subjects in the program or a topic that combines knowledge from the subjects.

The candidate can choose whether the essay should be purely theoretical as a summary of research or combine theory and empirical data.

The student chooses the topic and issue in dialogue with the course supervisor.

Learning Outcome

After completing the essay, the student will:

  • Have knowledge and skills about research design and carrying out professional analysis work in collaboration with others
  • Be able to assess different sources of knowledge, use these and refer according to recognized standards
  • Be able to critically reflect on findings in the analyses
  • Able to document and report according to recognized standards
  • Be able to communicate and present professional work to othersT

The topic for the essay must be approved by the course supervisor.

Entry requirements

The candidate must have approved at least two FLE subjects or equivalent with a total of 20 credits. before submitting the essay.

Recommended previous knowledge

We recommend that the candidate should have taken all four FLE subjects or equivalent subjects with a total of 40 credits. before submitting the essay.

Teaching methods

The course is organized as a seminar with 3-4 sessions. In addition, the candidates can expect a maximum of 4 meetings with the supervisor, individually or in groups. The guidance is based on a written guidance agreement (see separate form) and "Requirements for content and form" which have been drawn up at HVL and the institute.

Compulsory learning activities

  • Submission of written preliminary project
  • Presentation of draft in midterm seminar

Content and deadlines are specified by the course coordinator.

Assessment

1. Submission of written work (Essay) min. 4000 - max. 8000 words.

2. Corrective oral of a grade set on written work.

Grade scale A-F

No aids allowed in adjusting orally.
