FLE202 Digital Economics and Management Internship

Course description for academic year 2023/2024

Contents and structure

The course connected with work praxis in the program Advisor for digital economy and management runs over one semester. For at least 50% of the full working day, the student must participate in and have work tasks in an organization in the public or private sector that uses digital technology and/or uses digital tools in its operations.

During the internship, the student must test his/hers theoretical competence, which has been built up through at least 2 courses where the exam has been taken in the programme.

The institute can approve an internship in the students own business where the student is employed. Students must find their own internship. An internship agreement is entered into with the institute.

The praxis course has 3-4 sessions during the semester. A start-up meeting, one or two mid-term meetings and a final meeting where the student presents his practice report.

It is the basic idea of the course that the students can contribute new insights into their practice place, experience everyday complexity in a business and bring new insights from their practice place to their own competence.

The internship must be approved by the course supervisor

Learning Outcome

Knowledge:

The candidate can

  • show which theories and concepts from completed courses are relevant for the internship
  • show which experiences from the internship are in accordance with theory and concepts from the courses taken
  • show which experiences from the internship challenge theory and concepts from courses taken.

Skills:

  • analyze the internship in light of selected theories/concepts from courses taken
  • write a practice report
  • present their practical experience for the business or the course.

General competence:

  • reflect on which knowledge area the practical work belongs to within digital economy and management.
  • reflect on which knowledge area the internship business belongs to within digital economy and management.
  • Innovation work and operation in the light of theories about two-handed management

Entry requirements

Passed at least two courses with a total of 20 credits. in the program

Recommended previous knowledge

30 study points from the program or equivalent courses.

Teaching methods

This is a practical course with reflection sessions and written reflection works in seminar form.

Compulsory learning activities

1. Participate in the meetings of the course.

2. Present a draft essay for reflection in the mid-term and final seminar

Assessment

Essay for reflection according to guidelines given by the course supervisor. Minimum 4000 - maximum 8000 words.
