Contents and structure

The world is constantly changing, and this also applies to business. Focus on sustainability, technological development and globalization bring about changes in our surroundings such as e.g. automation of workplaces. New positions are created and more knowledge- and service employees are needed. This also affects the HR field of having to be dynamic.

In this subject, you will get an introduction to what HR is through various activities, input and case work. We learn different approaches to how HR characterizes organizations and why HR is called the heart of every company. HR must be in front of the company, must handle change and restructuring. We focus on various parts of the HR subject area, particularly within management, recruitment, motivation, HSE and competence development.

Knowledge

You:

  • know the HR subject's history and development, key concepts, main directions, and strategies
  • have insight into evidence-based HRM, including concrete HR activities associated with planning, acquiring, and developing employees
  • Know the effects of various HR measures, and has insight into the relationship between measures, HR strategies, and management
  • have insight into various institutional conditions and environmental characteristics that can have significance for how a company manages its HR

Skills

You:

  • have developed skills in planning, analyzing, and arranging HR activities

General Qualifications

You:

  • can evaluate the appropriateness of various HR measures
  • can make contributions towards forming and executing specific HR measures

Compulsory learning activities

Up to two individual written submissions as well as up to two oral presentations in class.

Project in groups of 2-3 students 100 %. Grade scale A - F
