Contents and structure
Basic mechanics, thermo physics, geometrical optics and gas laws.
Learning Outcome
- General Qualifications:
The students should be able to write mathematics correctly by using mathematic symbols and names. They should have insight in basic concepts in Mathematics and be able to explain these to others. The students should have the necessary prerequisites for future studies within mathematics, physics, and nautical subjects.
- Knowledge:
The students should be able to explain calculations by use of the motion equations for constant acceleration. They should be able to use Newton's laws, and describe friction, ramps, work and energy. They should be able to explain the 1st Main sentence, temperature, heat capacity, specific heat capacity and specific melting heat and vaporization. The students should know of the equation of state for ideal gases, refraction in prisms and total reflection.
- Skills:
The students should be able to analyze a problem, applying force vectors by using components, and use Newton's laws of motion in solving the problem. They should be able to set up an equation of given and received heat for a system of objects, and know the most important theories.
- General Qualifications:
The students should have insight in basic concepts and models in Physics and Mathematics, and be able to explain these to others. The students should have the necessary prerequisites for future studies within mathematics, physics and nautical subjects.
