PCS928 Sensor Networks
Course description for academic year 2024/2025
Contents and structure
This course covers technologies and methods used in wireless and wired communication system supporting a wide range of applications such as healthcare, environmental monitoring, industrial applications, smart grid and smart cities. These technologies require efficient, reliable, and predictive communication solutions. The focus is on industrial applications and challenges related to Industry 4.0. Following an introduction of network operations, advanced network solutions, requirements, and issues will be discussed. Specifically, the course covers topics such as media access and routing, addressing solutions related to reliability, latency, energy consumption, and so forth.
The course covers performance analysis of wireless sensor networks. In this regard, the students will use appropriate simulation environment for planning, simulating, and analyzing of wireless sensor networks. The analysis is to be summoned in an essay.
