Course description for academic year 2024/2025

Contents and structure

The course is carried out as an internship in a company where the student must participate in engineering-related tasks that are relevant to the study program he/she belongs to.

The student must obtain an internship himself, and the internship can be continuous and take place as normal working weeks (e.g. summer job), be divided and take place 1-2 days a week over an entire semester, or can be carried out in other ways.

After the internship period, the student must write a report.

Entry requirements

Passed 80 credits from engineering studies, starting the practical period.

Teaching methods

The student must obtain an internship himself and must apply to have the internship approved. The practical part consists of a minimum of 200 working hours within the company.

After the internship period, the student must write a report (see the section "assessment form"). The report must show that the student has professional knowledge that he/she can apply in the form of reflection and discussion. Requirements for the content and structure of the report are given at the start of the semester. The student can receive guidance during the semester.

Students who are going to carry out an internship as a summer job must register for the course via their education plan in advance of the job in order to gain access to the course in Canvas.

Compulsory learning activities

The application form "Søknad om praksis" must be submitted 3 weeks before the start of the internship and no later than 1. September.

Assessment

Portfolio, accounts for 100 % of the final grade.

Grade: Passed/failed.

Confirmed timetables must be submitted to pass the portfolio.

If failed, a revised portfolio may be submitted in the following semester.
