Course description for academic year 2024/2025

Contents and structure

The course deals with development plans as instrument in physical planning with emphasis on planning of residential areas and planning processes.. Coursing in how to make digital maps and making av complete plan.

Learning Outcome

Knowledge

After completion of the course students will:

  • be able to use local development plans.
  • have a good overview over planning processes.
  • have control over requirements for content and how to make development plans.

Skills

After completion of the course students will be able to:

  • analyze a planning site adapted to the planning situation.
  • draw up simple development plans for residential areas.
  • make digital maps.

General competence

After completion of the course students will be able to:

  • understand development plans.
  • participate in planning processes.

Entry requirements

The student must have obtained the examination right in PL417 Land use Planning

Recommended previous knowledge

PL 416 Landscape Analysis and PL 412 Human intervention landscapes

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises. Project work.

Compulsory learning activities

Approved course in GISLINE or a similar program (digital maps) and making a digital map of a plan. Individually map must be approved to be able to participate in the project assignment (exam).

Assessment

Project assignment in groups of 3-4 students.

Grading: A-F

New group assignment must be performed if getting a failing grade or improving grade.
