Course description for academic year 2024/2025
Contents and structure
The subject provides insight into the external accountant's professional practice, the bookkeeping regulations and internal control. The students will also learn more about accounting analysis and get an introduction to the practical use of an accounting program.
Learning Outcome
Knowledge:
The student:
- Has a good knowledge of the rules that regulate the rights and duties of authorized accountants, including accountants' tort law obligations
- Has good knowledge of requirements, duties and recommendations that appear in good accounting practice
- Knows the role and responsibilities of the board, general manager and auditor in relation to a business
- Knows the most central business routines
- Knows general controls and can reflect on organizational relationships in connection with internal control, including measures to ensure effective internal control
- Knows requirements for security and controls in ICT systems
- Has knowledge of the basic bookkeeping principles in the Bookkeeping Act and good bookkeeping practice, including other provisions in the Bookkeeping Act and the Accounting Act
Skills:
The student:
- Can apply rules on rights and duties and the content of good accounting practice, including the risk regulations (cf. regulations on risk management and internal control) and money laundering regulations
- Knows the basic use of an accounting program
- Can analyze accounts as a basis for financial advice to the client
General competence:
The student:
- Can acquire up-to-date knowledge within the subject area
- Can convey central subject matter through relevant forms of expression and can exchange views and experiences with other professionals
- Can see the subject in a larger societal perspective
