Knowledge

The student

has basic educational knowledge, academic knowledge of their own subject areas and extensive didactic knowledge in the subjects included in the education.

Content

A year programme in Music could be the start of further studies in the subject, a "taste" of teaching education or further education.

Are you interested in music and want to develop as a musician and music teacher? Here you will be given the opportunity! In the Music year programme we emphasise holistic teaching and put your musical development in the context of you as a listener, composer and show how to communicate music in a positive manner.

 

• You will receive a basic introduction to key disciplines of music
• You will receive individual education in a main instrument of your choosing
• You will receive access to a studio, excellent practice facilities and equipment between the hours of 07:00 and 24:00 every day
• You will be supervised by committed teachers who want you to meet your full potential (and who will set out requirements for you)
• You will be part of cross-disciplinary projects and concert projects
• You will develop further by learning to teach
• You will have a subject that is used in the fourth year of primary school teacher training
• You will study at one of the world's most appealing campuses
• Field trips in autumn and spring

You will learn to facilitate music activities for children and will gain insight into many different musical genres. You will also receive training in a main instrument.

We work and practice both individually and in groups in an exceptionally well-equipped building situated at the centre of the campus and near halls of residence. Lectures, seminars and group excursions are also key.

Part of the education is organised as projects and interdisciplinary topics. You will have the opportunity to play an active part in shows and concerts in the university college environment and in the music scene whilst also having the chance to go on field trips to places of musical interest. Our premises are situated in a relatively new building and include practice rooms, concert hall, studio and computer room.

The study includes didactics targeted at primary school and lower secondary school.

 

As a student in the music year programme you receive an education in a broad range of music disciplines such as main instrument, interplay, secondary instrument, didactics, music history, composition, arrangement, music theory and choir. Students will learn to facilitate music activities for children and will gain insight into many different musical genres. As a student you will play an active part in shows and concerts in the university college environment and in the music scene whilst also having the chance to go on field trips to places of musical interest.
