Nursing exchange programme

The Department of Health and Caring Sciences invites you to apply a wide range of courses in the Bachelor’s programme of Nursing. This includes practical placement in hospital and in community health, and theoretical courses.

We are located at campus Førde, Bergen, Stord and Haugesund. The department has about 200 employees and 2400 students. We educate, research and communicate in the field of nursing and caring science. The department has set a goal to recruit international students from all around the world.

We have well established partnerships in the Erasmus+ programme and collaborate with countries worldwide.

All the theoretical courses give 3 ECTS each, and they can be combined with each other and with a practical course.

General entry requirements

Student at a partner institution which Bachelor of Nursing at HVL have an agreement with:

  • 60 ECTS within Nursing studies
  • Placement experiences: at least one period
  • Minimum level B2 in English (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, CEFR)
  • Negative MRSA testing: You will not be allowed to start clinical placement if the test is positive for MRSA so we advice you to take a test before you leave for Norway. You will also be tested in Norway before you start your placement - Information about testing for tuberculosis and MRSA.

How to apply

Exchange students from our partner universities are welcome to use procedure to apply for student exchange to HVL, and then choose our courses of offer when nominated.

There is no tuition fee for the programme, only a semester fee applicable for all students at HVL. Exchange students must be prepared to cover their own expenses (travel, accommodation etc).
