Tourism is an industry that is constantly growing on the global stage and the study program will provide the opportunity to manage businesses within transportation, accommodation, attractions, activity and experience-based, and/or to work within marketing and sales in the tourism industry. The study program prepares you to work with your own entrepreneurial activity and innovation development.The study program will give the student a broad competence platform to work within the tourism industry, as a professional or consultant in private business, the public sector and other organisations. The students will be able to work as managers and in the private and public sector.

The candidate:

Content
The bachelor's degree in tourism management is a three-year study program that gives the bachelor's degree in tourism management. The study is 180 credits.
The study program includes subjects in tourism, marketing, international management and economics as well as practicical placement. The study will give the student a broad competence platform to work within the tourism industry, as a professional or consultant in private business, the public sector and other organisations.
The students will be able to work as a manager in both the private and public sector.More specifically, the study program can qualify the student to manage companies within transportation, accommodation, attractions, activity companies, museums and other experience-based companies as well as qualify to become a teacher in the field of tourism/marketing.
The courses within tourism builds on each other and the focus is always on what is relevant to the tourism industry and working life today.In the third semester, students can choose between a stay abroad at an approved university/college, or follow the original semester. The study plan is revised once a year, subject to changes both in the sequence of courses and course offerings.
Practice
It is observation of practical placement and issues around that in RE6-1005 Service & Hospitality. Further it is preparation for practical placement in RE6-2013 Introduction to practical placement in the tourism industry.

Teaching
The teaching methods offer lectures, seminars, working groups, exercises, assignments and case work. Problem-based learning with an emphasis on tasks that are current and relevant is central to the study program.
In the course, emphasis is placed on teaching the students to work independently both with individual work and group work. A large element of self-study is necessary.In order to follow lessons and take exams in the course, students must have their own laptop with standard software.The study program also includes practical placement both in subjects Re6-2006 and Re6-2007 as ell as Re6-2013 and Re6-1005

Required progression
Students must have earned at least 100 study points when they start 5. semester and in order to write their bachelor thesis in 6. semester.
Students must have passed OR6-1005 in 5th semester before they can start with OR6-1008 and RE6-2004 in 6th semester.
Internationalization
You may study a semester abroad, preferably 3rd semester. Courses must be approved in advance.
