Department of Civil Engineering and Environmental Sciences
The departement has approximately 900 students and 80 employees from different 16 nations.
The department is located across two campuses in Bergen and Sogndal, where we offer research-based education and problem-based learning at the bachelor's, master's and PhD levels.
Our research is organized into ten research groups. We have extensive education and research collaboration with universities, research communities, industry partners and policy stakeholders nationally and internationally in the fields of buildings, surveying, urban planning, mobility and transport planning, energy transition, ecology, nature restoration, geohazards, glacier dynamics and climate change, climate adaptation and sustainable land use.
The institute actively participates in Artemis (European University) with seven other universities in Europe, where we actively encourage student and teacher mobility and collaborate on research and education on sustainable mobility and regional innovation.
Our researchers are active in national and international research projects and collaborations. They participate in and lead multiple projects funded by the EU and the Research Council.
