HVL supports the use of Microsoft Outlook as the preferred email application.
Email Backup and Recovery
HVL does not perform traditional backups of emails in Office 365. However, Office 365 has built-in features that allow users to restore emails to a specific point in time.
-
Emails in the Junk Email folder are automatically deleted after 30 days.
-
Deleted emails are moved to the Deleted Items folder, where they can be recovered by the user.
-
If emails are deleted from the Deleted Items folder, they can still be recovered by selecting "Recover Deleted Items" in Outlook or when using webmail in a browser.
-
After 14 days, items can no longer be recovered through the "Recover Deleted Items" feature, but IT support can assist in recovering items for an additional 30 days. After this period, the items are permanently lost.
Recovering Deleted Items
If you need assistance recovering deleted items, please contact IT support as soon as possible. When requesting help, be as specific as possible, including details such as when the item was deleted and its name, if known.
Spam and Junk Email
Spam, or junk mail, refers to unwanted mass-distributed advertisements and irrelevant information that the recipient has not approved.
- Occasionally, legitimate emails may be flagged as spam and moved to the Junk Email folder. It is recommended to check this folder periodically to ensure important emails are not missed.
Accessing Email Online
Emails can be accessed directly through a web browser. A direct link is available for users whose email is hosted in Office 365.
Deleted Items Recovery
Emails deleted from the Deleted Items folder or removed using the "Shift" + "Delete" keys can be recovered for up to 14 days. After this period, IT support can assist for an additional 30 days, after which the items are permanently lost.
