Research Ethics and Privacy Protection
Research ethics involves several aspects. Two of the most important ones are proper referencing of your sources and privacy protection.
Research ethics
Every student and researcher must relate to ethical research norms. Familiarise yourself with the norms that are particularly important in your field. Proper refencing is essential througout your studies. HVL also has formulated a set of Cheating policy guidelines that we recommend that your read thoroughly.
The Norwegian National Research Ethics Committees have formulated guidelines for what research ethics means and involves. Moreover, HVL has collected useful information on a seperate webpage devoted to several ethical aspects of the research process.
Privacy protection
If you plan to collect data or use data already collected by others for your assignment or thesis, it is important that you know the requirements for privacy protection.
Research projects that fall under the jurisdiction of the Health Research Act or the Personal Data Act must also adhere to HVL's regulations for secure storage of personal data. Read more on:
