The world we share as global citizens is changing. In these times of pandemic we are thrown into the largest disruption of education ever. With children and students spending large parts of the day at home, leaves teachers from kindergarten, school, to educators in higher education and universities, researchers, policymakers, parents, children and students with a generational opportunity to reimagine education. As part of VJEP’s 2021 issue this special topic offers a platform for dissemination of research that brings insight into visual research designs as a space where different disciplines and experiences meet to design new ways forward. Changes in visual technologies provide opportunities for communication and virtual closeness at personal, institutional and cultural levels across borders and pave ways for changes in education that we have only begun to explore.
Submissions for this Special Issue are invited on topics such as:
- Visual research design that prompt a plurality of reflections across intercultural research
- Visual research design that captures voices from a variety of stakeholders in education (i.e. children, parents, practitioners, teachers, researchers, owners, political actors)
- Inspiration and challenge in the wake of new technologies in education and research designs
- Visuality and virtual realities in research designs and in education, particular in times of the pandemic
- Ethical issues and methodological reflections when performing visual research design
