To achieve the sustainability goals, we must develop good solutions for infrastructure and transport, create energy-efficient solutions, take into account biodiversity and ecosystems, and build communities that are good to live in. HVL conducts extensive research on sustainable urban and community development
Important topics in our research include, among others, the transformation of urban areas, energy-efficient rehabilitation of existing buildings, spatial planning, property history, and legal issues related to property and land consolidation.
The profile area also includes researchers working on socio-economic issues related to urban and regional economies, and social scientists and historians who work on a broad range of issues related to how different places, people, and institutions change.
