Contents and structure

The content of the field of children's development, play and learning is structured according to the following main themes:
· The kindergarten as an arena for care, play, learning and development
· Views on children and childhood
· Critical reflection
· Educational management
The recurrent themes in all topics of the course are:
· Educational management
· Diversity and equality
· The youngest children
· The child's involvement
· Didactics
Learning Outcome

Knowledge:
After completing the course, the student will have:
· Knowledge about relevant current theories for and about children's development, play, learning and cultural formation with a focus on views on children and childhood.
· Knowledge of didactics.
· Knowledge of multicultural perspectives.
· Knowledge of digital tools and how digital tools can be used creatively and critically to promote children's development, play, learning and education.
· Knowledge of different artistic forms and the connection between play and artistic processes.
· Knowledge about educational supervision, collaboration and competence for change.
· Knowledge of critical theory and reflection.
Skills:
After completing the course, the student will:
· Be able to plan, justify, implement and assess educational supervision.
· Be able to facilitate aesthetic experiences and stimulate aesthetic expressions.
· Be able to practice academic writing related to critical theory and reflection.
General competence:
After completing the course, the student will:
· Be able to exercise professional judgement and make professional reflections about practical and theoretical issues.
· Be able to professionally analyse and critically reflect on ethical challenges.
· Be able to professionally analyse and critically reflect on aesthetic challenges.
· Be able to communicate and develop their own pedagogical competence in work with children.

Teaching and work forms:
Lectures, online teaching, dialogue and reflection in class/groups, group work, excursions and presentations of student work.
Compulsory learning activities
- 80% participation in teaching (practical, teoretical and web-based)
- Compulsory assignments
- Pre-work in practice
Assessment
- Individual practical work, 40%. A-F
Individual assignment, 60%. A-F
Practical training in Kindergarten - 15 days, 0%
