NAB1013 Mathematics II
Course description for academic year 2017/2018
Contents and structure
Integration, functions, trigonometry, exponential and logarithmic functions, vector calculus, sequences and series.
Learning Outcome
- Knowledge:
Have basic knowledge within indefinite and definite integrals, integration by parts, by substitution and by partial fractions, area calculus and volume calculus of a motion of a body about an axis. They should know monotony, max/min, slope and point of inflection, divided functions, inverse functions and symmetrical functions.The students should have knowledge of absolute angles, graphs of trigonometric functions, 1st and 2nd degree trigonometric equations, trigonometric functions such as a * sinx + b * cosx = c, differentiation, integration and discuss graphical solutions of trigonometric functions. They should have knowledge within exponential functions, logarithms, the logarithmic function log x, calculation rules for logarithms, Briggs logarithms, natural logarithms, 1st and 2nd degree equations for logarithms and exponentials. The students should know of vectors in two and three dimensions, vector coordinates, scalar product, vector product, triple scalar product, distance in space, sequences, series, arithmetic and geometric series, finite and infinite series and convergence.
- Skills:
Be able to understand and use mathematical rules. They should be able to use mathematic techniques within the topics of this course.
- General Qualifications:
Have a thorough competence in using mathematics as a tool within other courses and in other mathematic courses and further studies.
