Content and structure

Community work is referred to as collective action, as collective changework and as taking responsibility for one's fellow human beings. Co-creation, collaboration and social participation are central to community work. Social participation is the result of a community orientation, an experience of being entitled to and of being recognized, and of individual and structural preconditions. Community work is to investigate and influence conditions for social participation, community formation and collective action. The course will provide knowledge of and understanding of community-related processes and changework, and provide knowledge about the use of different theories and methods in community work. Process leadership and participatory democratic methods for mobilizing different groups into different communities are key.

Teaching methods

Teaching and learning methods

Lectures, article seminars, presentations, receive and comment on their own and fellow students' work, participate in discussions, group work, prepare and use group contracts, submit work requirements on Canvas. Practical project work related to work with participatory democratic methods. Practice of participatory democratic methods. Evaluation processes. Process-oriented writing. Compulsory learning activity (work requirements) Group work requirements. The students who are put together in groups must be opponents in another group's performance and their poster.The work requirement is assessed approved / not approved. Approved work requirements are valid for two consecutive semesters.

Assessment

Exam
Group exam. Students choose a participatory democratic method to immerse themselves in and establish groups themselves. The method / approach that is presented in plenary must both be tested in practice and presented as a wall newspaper / poster.
