Chemistry, energy and aquaculture
Our research area includes aquaculture, water quality, biogas production, RAS, medicinal chemistry and environmentally friendly energy applications. The research group have access to excellent laboratories in Bergen with advanced analytical equipment, as well as good collaboration with local and national partners.
The research group belongs to the Department of Safety, Chemical and Bioengineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Science.
Our work is based on some of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals:
- 2: Zero hunger
- 3: Good health and well-being
- 4: Quality education
- 6: Clean water and sanitation
- 7: Affordable and clean energy
- 13: Climate action
- 14: Life below water
In addition, we lay emphasis on goal number 5 about gender equality.
Research is actively included in teaching, offering guidance to students from bachelor to Ph.D. level. The research is interdisciplinary and is divided into two groups: VAK (water, aquaculture and climate) and KJETEK (medicinal chemistry and energy storage materials in battery technology).
