Peter's research focuses on Consumer Behaviour, Tourism and Hospitality, Place Development, Marketing, Social Theory and Sociological Theory. Recent projects include the Innovation Norway-funded Outdoor Health Network, and the NPA initiative Slow Adventure In Northern Territories.
In the past he has been awarded research funding from ESRC in the UK, the European Joint Programming Initiatives via the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the Northern Peripheries and Arctic funds. He has also lead consultancy projects and market research initiatives for Scottish Government agencies.
He is currently immersed in projects as diverse as existential anxiety in tourism, a sense of place (in airports, whilst camping, via eating or volunteering) and emotional responses to celebrated local foods. He is also pursuing research funding around the theme of 'friluftsliv', preventative health practices and outdoor experience.
